    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform drive control by a proper drive pulse by accurately discriminating drive remaining power.
SOLUTION: A rotation detection circuit 110 detects the rotation state of a stepping motor 105 according to whether or not an induction signal VRs exceeds a reference threshold voltage Vcomp1 for rotation state detection in a rotation detection section T comprising detection sections T1-T3. A detection time discrimination circuit 111 detects lengths of the detection sections T1-T3 y setting them based on an intersection of the induction signal VRs detected by the rotation detection circuit 110 and a reference threshold voltage Vcomp2 for detection section setting. A control circuit 103 controls the drive of the stepping motor 105 by either of a plurality of main drive pulses P1 having mutually different energy, respectively, or by a correction drive pulse P2 having larger energy than the main drive pulse P1 according to rotation states of the detection sections T1-T3.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the feeling of operation on the occasion of starting chronograph measurement from changing, even when counting has been performed up to a maximum measurement time of the chronograph of a chronograph timepiece, in the timepiece in which the feeling of operation on the occasion of starting chronograph measurement is made different from that on the occasion of stopping the chronograph measurement. SOLUTION: When a maximum measurement controller 61 determines that a chronograph second counter 57 and a chronograph minute counter 58 have measured the maximum measurement time, the controller controls a drive pulse generating circuit 52 to drive and stop a motor 35 so that chronograph hands 14 and 15 stop at predetermined positions. When, in this state, a restarting operation is performed on a start/stop button 18, a normal chronograph measurement operation is restarted. At this time, a mechanical structure 5 has been restored to a reset state, so that even when restarting after the measurement of the maximum measurement time, the load at the starting operation is the same as that of the normal operation, thus generating no sense of incongruity.
