    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the rotational position of an insertion member which holds the rear end of photographic film and locks it to a spool, and to decide success or failure of detection of the photographic film and the spool.
      SOLUTION: The insertion member 72 rotates by an insert arm 75 around a rotating shaft 76, holds the rear end of photographic film 32 with an insert claw 88, inserts it into a cartridge 31, and locks it to the spool locking claw 52 of a spool 35. During this rotation, a sensor dog 79 attached to the insert arm 75 blocks detection light 102 of a projector 93, and when openings above and below a detection hole 99 overlap with each other in the illumination direction of the detection light 102, the detection light 102 is made incident on a light sensor 94 through the detection hole 99. The light sensor 94 outputs a detection signal according to the quantity of the incident light, and when this detection signal is within a predetermined level, the insertion member 72 is decided to have rotated the specified number.
