    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, by which the deterioration due to aging of a ferromagnetic structural material can be evaluated accurately and systematically, by more measuring in detail the types and the amounts of lattice defects through nondestructive measurement at weak magnetic field intensity. SOLUTION: In this method, the correlation between physical quantities (for example, Hc* and 1/x H *) is obtained from a reference hysteresis minor loop, obtained by giving a load stress σ to the same type of material as that of the ferromagnetic structural material to be measured, according to the results of tensile tests performed on the material in an evaluation information acquiring step. In measuring step, the measured values of the physical quantities (for example, Hc* and 1/x H *) are found from a measured hysteresis minor loop, obtained from the structural material to be measured. In evaluating step, in addition, the deterioration due to aging of the structural material is evaluated from the correlation between the measured values and physical quantities. Each minor loop is obtained for every maximum magnetic field, from the relation between magnetic field intensities and magnetic flux densities obtained by measuring the magnetic flux, density of the structural material, by changing the maximum magnetic field impressed upon the material of the same type in steps within the range of the magnetic field intensity that is lower than that of the saturation magnetic field.
