    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method and apparatus for identifying objects due to the prior arts.SOLUTION: The method for identifying a self-emitting object and a reflecting object in irradiating the object with a headlight within the detection range of a camera 106 of a vehicle 100 comprising at least one headlight 104 includes the steps of: receiving the relative position of the object with respect to the vehicle and the luminance value of the object from the camera; comparing the luminance value with a self-emission value estimated at the relative position and/or a reflection value estimated at the relative position; classifying the object as a self-emitting object when the luminance value is settled within an allowable self-emission range around a self-emitting value, and classifying the object as a reflecting object when the luminance value is within an allowable reflection range around the reflection value.
