    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-temperature shear ply for transferring loads from the pressure vessel of either a stand-alone composite rocket motor or strap-on composite booster to a rocket skirt, and to provide a high-strength elastomer for making the shear ply. SOLUTION: A precursor composition curable into the high-strength elastormer is provided. The precursor composition comprises (a) a 1st hydrogenated nitrile conjugated-diene copolymer modified by a metal salt unsaturated carboxylic acid ester, wherein the hydrogenated nitrile conjugated-diene copolymer is derived from a 1st composition comprising a 1st ethylenically unsaturated nitrile and a 1st conjugated diene, (b) a 2nd hydrogenated nitrile conjugated- diene copolymer derived from a 2nd composition comprising a 2nd ethylenically unsaturated nitrile and a 2nd conjugated diene, and (c) a curing agent; wherein the components (a) and (b) are intermixed. A rubber component and the shear ply each made from the precursor composition, and a method for making each of the rubber component and the shear ply, are also provided respectively.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal spraying method for manufacturing an article with a film which is not melted and capable of maintaining the particle characteristic such as dimension retention and/or heat conductivity of Cr 2 Nb being applied thereto. SOLUTION: A process for forming an article comprises a step of providing a mandrel formed from a material, such as an aluminum-containing material, having a net shape of the article to be made, depositing a powdered metal material onto the mandrel without melting the powdered metal material, and a step of removing the material forming the mandrel to leave a free standing monolithic article such as a combustion chamber liner.
