    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the wasteful combustion in a soaking pit by detecting the way of heating in the soaking pit when the steel ingot rapped from the inside of a casting mold is charged thereon and controlling the timing for changing the flow rate for charging fuel in accordance with the heating rate. CONSTITUTION:A thermometer is beforehand provided in a soaking pit so that the heating rate (DELTAT/DELTAt=alpha) in the unit time of the temp. in the furnace is determined. The inside of the soaking pit is first heated up only by the radiation heat of the steel ingot without combustion therein in the stage of charging the steel ingot into the pit. Since a difference between the temp. of the ingot and the temp. in the pit is large in this case, the heating rate alpha in the pit attains a large value in the initial period of heating in the pit but the rate alpha of the heating rate in the pit decreases in he late period. Fuelis burned at a supply rate G1 when the value alpha decreases lower than a target value alpha2 and while the heating the heating rate alpha in the furnace is again measured, the flow rate of the fuel is increased to G2 at the point of the time when the next target value alpha2 is attained. The fuel is burned at the fuel flow increased equally stepwise in the above-mentioned way. The combustion is thereafter stopped when the temp. in the furnace attains finally the prescribed max. temp. and the steel ingot is discharged from the holding furnace.

    • PURPOSE:To provide an effective heat insulating and recuperating furnace, by providing a door for charging and discharging in the side wall part of a soaking pit, removing the partition wall in the pit to form a large compartment, and juxtaposing plural moving devices for hot slabs in the hearth part thereby making the charging and discharging of the hot slabs possible while the ingots are held stacked on the moving devices. CONSTITUTION:A door 5 for charging and discharging which is movable in an arrow direction is provided in the side wall part of a soaking pit 1, and the partition walls in the pit are removed to form a large compartment. Plural carriages 2 which are moving devices for hot slabs are juxtaposed in the hearth part so that the charging and discharging of the hot slabs 9 are made possible while the slabs are held stacked on the carriages 2. The soaking pit which is idle equipment is thus utilized effectively as a heat insulating and recuperating furnace with addition of slight modification.

    • PURPOSE: To stable the flame and to enable quick combustion, by injecting fuel gas in the spiral direction to form a revolving flow, and by letting mix violently with the air flow from the starting point of injection.
      CONSTITUTION: The gas burner 10 is so consisted that the unbrella-shaped part 12 is provided as the ceiling in the upper part of gas header 11, standing gas nozzles 13 on the top of the unbrella-shaped part 12. The gas nozzles, usually three in number, are arranged in equal angles to the center of a burner 10, and the upper end is provided with a canopy 14 having a proper gradient to the right angles with radius line from the center 10 of the burner 10, and the oval nozzle-ports 15. That is, the gas nozzle 13 is consisted of the lower cylindrical part and the upper, a half cut, cross-sectional part. The gas flow injected from the nozzle ports 15 forms a revolving flow in the burner port, and violently acts to the air flow to mix with it from the starting point of injection, therefore, the combustion of short flame of which diffusion time is short can be attained.

    • PURPOSE:To attain to conserve the unit product of fuel by a method wherein fuel throwing in a time when a steel ingot is baked up is stopped at a time when a temp. set time in a furnace is elapsed for a predetermined time and, thereafter, the steel ingot is heated by a holding heat of a furnace body. CONSTITUTION:Before the temp. set time in the furnace is reached to t2' from t1', at a time of t'', throwing of a heavy oil is stopped and, thereafter, the steel ingot is heated by holding heat of the furnace body. In this case, the temp. in the furnace is lowered to Pe from P2'' in a temp. curve 1'' in the furnace but, because said temp. Pe is higher than an objective surface temp. S of the steel ingot, the steel ingot can be heated by the holding heat thereof. Then, a gradient of a surface temp. curve 2'' of the steel ingot in this case becomes slow and a heat holding time is lengthen to te from t2' in accordance therewith but a flow amount curve 3'' of the heavy oil moves to t2'' from t2'. As the result, heat holding time of the steel ingot becomes long but a fuel unit product can be conserved.
