    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, which is improved in shortening of catalyst life and problems of apparatus scaling, corrosion and the like, and is industrially advantageous.SOLUTION: A 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane is selectively produced in good yield by using a metal-solubilizing agent such as an N,N-dimethylacetoamide and a catalyst having an elemental iron as a main component, and by reacting carbon tetrachloride with vinyl chloride as shown by [a first step]; and then, a 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene is produced by reacting the 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane with hydrogen fluoride in [a second step], wherein the metal-solubilizing agent and the catalyst component in the 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane is restricted to 100 ppm.
