    • PURPOSE: To enhance stability in air of a dye precursor for black color forming recording and fastness of a dye formed therefrom against light, moisture or the like, by using a fluoran derivative having an arylamino group at 2-position, a long chain alkyl group at 3-position and an amine residue at 6-position.
      CONSTITUTION: A fluoran derivative having an arylamino group at 2-position of the fluoran ring, a long-chain alkyl group at 3-position and an amine residue at 6-position. A specified fluoran derivative having a long-chain alkyl group at 3- position of the fluoran ring is markedly water-insoluble and has a low melting point. Further, when an arylamino group, particularly, an anilino group, or a p- methyl or p-chloroanilino group is introduced to the 2-position of the fluoran ring, the fluoran derivative forms a color of pure black hue through interaction with a color developer having a phenolic hydroxyl group. Such a fluoran derivative is a colorless or light-colored crystal, is markedly hydrophobic, is highly soluble in organic solvents, and rapidly forms a black color upon contact with an electron-receptive substance. The developed dye is remarkably stable, and is excellent in fastness against discoloration or decoloration when being exposed to light, heat or moisture for a long period of time.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a non-photo-sensitive picture recording material capable of giving recording at low voltage by a method in which an imagery electric current distribution is given to a picture recording layer containing a reducible metal compound, a reducing agent, and thioether, provided on a supporter, in such a way as to form a latent image, and the picture recording layer is heated to form a visible picture. CONSTITUTION:An electric current distribution in a sufficient amount to form a latent image is given by using a needle electrode 16 to the picture recording layer 10 of a picture recording material having at least a picture recording layer containing a reducible metal compound (e.g., silver laurate, etc.), a reducing agent (e.g., p-phenyl phenol, etc.) to reduce the metal compound, and a compound of the formula (where R is an alkyl or aryl, R and R are each H, an alkyl, or aryl, Z is OH, carboxyl, or carbamoyl, and k is an integer of 1-8). The picture recording layer 10 is heated on a heating platen 20 to form a visible picture corresponding to the latent image.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a recording medium capable of being easily produed from inexpensive materials and capable of developing acolor in sufficient density with low energy, wherein a layer of a metal capable of librating electrons through oxidation such as Al, a color former capable of forming a color through recution and a metallic compound are combined with each other. CONSTITUTION:A base 1 (e.g., a paper, a plastic film, a metallic foil) is provided at least on a surface thereof with a conductive layer 2 comprising a metal (e.g., Mg, Al) capable of librating electrons when being oxidized by impressing a voltage thereon. A conductive binder layer 3 incorporating a color material capable of forming a color or being discolored when being reduced by impressing a voltage thereon [e.g., a tetrasolium salt of the formula (wherein R is phenyl, alkyl; R' is H, alkyl, phenyl, COOC2H5 or the like)] and a metallic compound (e.g., an oxide of Zn, Ti or the like, a sulfide of Cd or the like) is provided on the surface of the base 3 to obtain the recording medium. EFFECT:Recording is accomplished by impressing a low voltage of not higher than 10V.
