    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for detecting the abnormality of a mold clamping device which is simple in structure and can be formed inexpensively.
      SOLUTION: A dog 20 is fitted to the cross head 5a of a toggle mechanism 5 in the mold clamping device. A proximity switch 21 is fitted to a rear platen 2. The shape of the dog 20 and the mounting position of the proximity switch 21 are adjusted so that the proximity switch 21 is turned on at a mold touch position contacted with molds 10a and 10b and turned off when the toggle mechanism 5 generating set mold clamping force is locked up. When a time during the proximity switch 21 being turned on exceeds a set standard value in a mold clamping or opening process, an alarm is raised. A large load is applied to a servomotor M1 driving the cross head and a belt 9 in a section from a mold touch to a lockup. Even when an abnormality such as the breakage of the belt 9 occurs, the abnormality can be detected immediately.
