    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool holding mechanism, comparatively easily attaining the accuracy of a member, hardly causing a gap between the members, decreasing the time and labor for attaching and detaching a cutting tool, a cutting tool and a spindle unit.
      SOLUTION: In this spindle unit, the cutting tool 10 is inserted in a cylindrical spindle 21, and the spindle is rotatably supported in a housing by a bearing. The spindle and the cutting tool are respectively provided with an engagement part 15 to engage with each other for preventing the relative movement in the rotating direction of the cutting tool in the spindle. A step part 14 or a small diameter part 13 is formed in the middle of the cutting tool, a gap is formed between the cutting tool and the spindle, an elastic annular member 22 is disposed opposite to the small diameter part or the step part in the gap, a sliding member 23 is slidably disposed to abut on the elastic annular member in the gap, and a sealing member 24 is removably provided at the tip of the spindle to press the elastic annular member through the sliding member.
