    • PURPOSE:To prevent a rolling roll from an accident such as a roll breakage caused by throttling the flow rate of cooling water used for controlling the roll crown of roll, by providing a through-hole to the axial center of hot rolling roll and inserting a heating device in the hole to heat the axial center part. CONSTITUTION:In hot-rolling a steel sheet, etc. by a work roll 1 for hot rolling, the roll crown of roll 1 is controlled by regulating the flow rate of cooling water in the axial direction of roll 1 for the purpose of improving the product quality by making the thickness in the width direction of the rolling sheet uniform. In this case, the surface temperature at the part where the roll cooling water is throttled rises to the temperature extremely higher than that of the axial center of roll 1, and the roll 1 is occasionally broken by a tensile stree caused by the temperature difference. For preventing it, a through-hole 2 is provided to the axial center of roll 1, and a heater 3 such as a steam injecting pipe is inserted movably in the hole 2 by a pushing device 4 to heat the necessary positions of the axial center part. In this case, the quantity of roll crown is properly formed without breaking the roll 1 by controlling the flow rates of heating steam and cooling water for roll 1 with the aid of a control device 8.
