    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a coated building material for outdoor applications, e.g. sectional door panels or overhead door assemblies, or a building material for facade integrated with a door and/or a door assembly in the fixtures industry.SOLUTION: A relative motion in the feeding direction is generated between a starting material for production a building material and a coating mechanism, and a coating material is applied from the coating mechanism to the starting material along a coating direction intersecting the feeding direction and being essentially orthogonal to the main surface to be coated. In the process in which the coating material moves perpendicularly in the coating direction and relatively between the starting material and the coating mechanism, the amount of the coating material applied to one surface element of the coating surface to be covered by the coating mechanism is controlled on the basis of material data representing the starting material.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus in which an applicator roller hardly gets injured and the yield of a product is improved and excellent working efficiency is attained, and a method of coating a metallic strip.
      SOLUTION: The coating apparatus for a steel strip is a coating apparatus for successively welding the transported metallic strips 101, 102, ..., integrating them, and continuously coating them, is provided with: a welding device 10 for superposing the rear end part 101a of the preceding steel strip 101 and the front part 102a of the following steel belt 102 of the adjacent steel strip 101, 102 and welding them; a thickness reducing instrument 20 for pressing the welded joint part 1 of the steel strips 101, 102 welded by the welding device 10 and reducing the thickness of welded joint part 1; and a coater 30 having a pair of the roll coaters 30A, 30B arranged to face each other while holding the steel strips 101, 102 between the roll coaters from the both sides in the thickness direction and for simultaneously coating both sheet surfaces of the steel strips 101, 102 with the thickness of the welded joint part 1 reduced by the thickness reducing instrument 20 using both the roll coaters 30A, 30B.
