SOLUTION: By fitting a fitting hole 9 of the cylinder cover 2 to a cover support rod 3 projecting from the tip of the cylinder bed, pushing in the cylinder cover 2 and locking the locking part 142 of a locking member 12 to a locked part 32 of the cover support rod 3, the locked state is maintained by the energizing force of a coil spring 16 and the cylinder cover 2 is mounted on the cylinder bed. In the meantime, by operating an operation part 15 and turning the locking member 12 around a pivot part, the locking part 142 of the locking member 12 is detached from the part 32 to be locked of the cover support rod 3, and by pulling out the cylinder cover 2 in the state, the cylinder cover 2 is slid along the cover support rod 3 and detached from the cylinder bed.

The rotation of the needle bar driving shaft 7 is transmitted to the needle bar 4 via a motion conversion means 8 to move the needle bar 4 vertically.

SOLUTION: This apparatus supports pivotably the base end of a support arm 10 with a nearly horizontal support shaft 11 in a support housing H continuously provided on the lower surface of a sewing machine arm A. The half-way part of a feed rod 1 is pivotably supported on the tip of the support arm 10 by a pivot pin 12 parallel to the support shaft 11. Thus, the feed rod 1 is allowed to vertically move by the swing of the support arm 10 around the support shaft 11, and the forward and backward swing of the feed rod 1 is allowed by the pivot pin 12 as a pivot. By these combination, an upper feed dog 1a mounted to the lower end of the feed rod 1 is allowed to perform the feed action.
