    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical branching device which is simple in structure and allows changing of the branching quantity of light by forming the tip of a waveguide disposed in a case as a convergently sharpened end and constituting the tip so as to prick the coated fiber of an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: A optical fiber cable is provided with a cable placing groove 6 for placing the optical fiber cable on the cover 3 and the case 1 is provided with a cable placing groove 7 in the position opposite to the cable placing groove 6 of the cover 3. The case is provided with the waveguide 12 having the convergently sharpened end 12a to prick the coated fiber of the optical fiber cable placed in the cable placing grooves 6, 7. The front end of the waveguide 12 disposed at the case 1 is formed as the convergently sharpened end 12a so as to prick the coated fiber of the optical fiber cable in such a manner and, therefore, the easy branching of the light is made possible with the simple structure. Since the cover 3 and the case 1 are provided with the cable placing grooves 6, 7 for placing the optical cable, the easy pricking of the sharpened end 12a of the waveguide 12 to the coated fiber of the optical fiber cable is made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To perform connecting work at a time and reduce material and labor remarkably by performing connection of light energy and electric energy using the same member having the same axis. CONSTITUTION:The tip of an optical fiber A is peeled off and an exposed part of a conductive tension member 3 is turned up on the outer periphery of an insulator covering 4. After inserting the tip joint of the optical fiber A to conductive ferrule B, outer periphery of insulator holding part 9 of the ferrule B connected to the turned up part is calked in the direction of central axis using a calking die 10. Thus, electric connection of the tension member 3 of the optical fiber A and ferrule B becomes possible. A connecting terminal C is formed triangular in sectional form by bending oppositely side plates 12, 13 and 12', 13' adjoining to a metallic bottom plate 11 made of a material in which elasticity is given to the bent part. Core wires of optical fibers A and A' fixed in contact pieces C1 and C2 can be butted accurately without causing deviation of axes.

    • PURPOSE:To immediately give information of the occurrence of an accident, to the outside, by providing a vehicle with an accident indicating lamp so that the lamp is lighted by the cutoff of an optical fiber caused by a shock which acts to a buffer when the vehicle collides. CONSTITUTION:When an amplifier 17 is put in operation as a result of closure of a switch 21 caused by turning on an ignition key, an optical signal is continuously applied from a light emitter 15 to a photodiode 16 through an optical fiber 13 so that a relay coil 18 is energized through the amplifier. For that reason, an accident operating switch 25 is opened so that an accident indicating lamp 30 is off. When a collision accident has occurred to a vehicle to give a shock to a buffer 12 to cut off the optical fiber 13, the optical signal is blocked from the photodiode 16 so that the drive of the amplifier 17 is stopped. As a result, the relay coil 18 is deenergized to close the switch 25 to light the accident indicating lamp 30.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately detect the crash of a car and prevent the generation of the car fire by detecting that an optical fiber arranged at a buffer unit is cut and an optical signal is cut off when the car crashes and stopping the power supply from a battery. CONSTITUTION:When a shock is given to a buffer unit 12 due to the generation of a crash accident, an optical fiber 13 arranged along the buffer unit 12 is cut. The supply of an optical signal is cut off from a luminous body 15 to a photodiode 16 by this cut and a flow-in of excitation current into a relay coil 18 is stopped. Thus, a power switch 21 is set to OFF and the power supply into electric devices 22-1,...22-n from a battery 14 is cut off. As a result, a shortcircuit accident due to the crash is prevented from occurring and the generation of the car fire is prevented.
