摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a phase change ink composition which contains stable pigment particles uniformly dispersed and is thermally stable.
SOLUTION: The phase change ink composition comprises a phase change ink carrier and pigment particles, where the carrier comprises at least one nonpolar component and at least one polar component. The manufacturing method thereof comprises a step for selecting at least one polar carrier component functioning as a dispersant of the pigment particles, a step for mixing the pigment particles with the dispersant, a step for forming a pigment dispersion by extruding from an extruder the mixture of the pigment particles with the dispersant at a temperature equal to or higher than the peak crystallization temperature of the dispersant and lower than the peak melting temperature of the dispersant, and a step, subsequent to extrusion of the pigment dispersion, for adding any remaining polar components and nonpolar components to the pigment dispersion, and a step for subjecting the resulting mixture of the pigment dispersion, the polar components and the nonpolar components to high-shear mixing to form an ink.

SOLUTION: The pigmented phase change ink composition includes an ink vehicle, a dispersant, and pigment particles. The dispersant is a compound represented by formula R 1 -CONH-R 2 -X. Wherein, R 1 is alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, or arylalkyl having at least 23 carbon atoms; R 2 is alkylene, arylene, alkylarylene, or arylalkylene having at least 2 carbon atoms; and X is a quaternary ammonium salt. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide wax emulsion for an emulsion aggregation toner containing wax, with the generation of protrusions suppressed.
SOLUTION: The wax emulsion contains polyethylene wax and one or more surfactants in an aqueous medium, wherein the polyethylene wax has a degree of crystallinity of up to about 50% to about 80% by mass of the polyethylene wax. The wax emulsion is prepared, by emulsifying the polyethylene wax, one or more surfactants and an aqueous medium in a vessel at a temperature at or higher than the melting point of the polyethylene wax to form an emulsified product, and subsequently, cooling the emulsified product to ambient temperature at a cooling rate of at least 10°C/minutes. The wax emulsion is preferably incorporated into toner particles that are prepared by emulsion/aggregation/coalescing.
