    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a current valve timing control device with the structure that a lock pin is inserted into an engagement hole for connection so that it is necessary to accurately work and assemble each structural member and the cost is raised. SOLUTION: The oil pressure is selectively supplied/discharged to/from a spark-advance side oil pressure chamber 2 and a spark-lag side oil pressure chamber 30 of a housing main body 6a to normally/reversely rotate a turning member 3, and a relative rotational phase of a timing sprocket and a can shaft 2 is thereby converted. A lock mechanism 5 for locking the rotation phase of the housing and the turning member when starting the engine has a pair of pinching pins 42 and 43 provided in a pair of housing holes 44 and 45, which are formed in a vane 23a of the turning member to pass through it, freely to appear and disappear in opposite directions. In the condition that the pinching pins are inserted into arc-like engagement grooves 40 and 41, the vane is pinched from the circumferential direction to regulate the turning member and the housing at the predetermined spark-advance side rotational phase position.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent effect of leakage of operating oil on valve timing change operation and lowering of operational response, even if the leakage of operating oil occurs. SOLUTION: A front end portion of a camshaft 31 of hollow structure is fitted and fixed in a recess portion 50 of a vane member 37, and a tube 53 is fitted and fixed inside the camshaft. A first feed/discharge passage a1 connecting an inner space of the tube 53 with an advance hydraulic chamber is disposed, and a second feed/discharge passage a2 passing through an outer peripheral face of the camshaft 31 from an outer space of the tube 53 and passing through an annular groove 61 to a delay hydraulic chamber is disposed. A positioning pin is hit into the outer peripheral face of the camshaft 31 through an engaging hole 64 of the vane member 37 to position the vane member and the camshaft. When high pressure operating oil is supplied to the second feed/ discharge passage a2 at a time of delay side control and the operating oil leaks from the annular groove 61 to the engaging hole 64, a large torque component on a delay side of alternate torque acts as assist force.
