    • PURPOSE:To provide the subject adhesive comprising the combination of a radically polymerizable monomer, an itaconic acid monoester compound, an alpha-ketocarbonyl compound and a reducing agent, having the characteristics of good hardness, compression strength and water absorbability, and having excellent adhesive forces to dentines and enamels. CONSTITUTION:The photocurable adhesive excellent in the photocurability in a low temperature region near to the ordinary temperature and under a humid condition and in the water-resistant adhesivity of the cured product comprises a radically polymerizable monomer (e.g. methyl acrylate), an itaconic acid monoester of formula I (R1 is H, CH3; R2 is alkylene, oxyalkylene, etc.) (e.g. a compound of formula II), alpha-ketocarbonyl compound (e.g. diacetyl, benzyl, camphor-quinone) and a reducing agent (e.g. N-phenylglycine). The adhesive contains the itaconic acid monoester as a main component, and has an excellent adhesive force to dentines due to the actions of the itaconic acid residue and other functional groups in the compound, while maintaining the adhesive force to enamels.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the title packing agent which can be applied to teeth immediately after eruption to promote dentinal maturation after eruption by using a combination of tetracalcium phosphate dust, a fluoride, citric acid and/or tartaric aqueous solution. and an aqueous solution of an unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The title cavity fissure-packing agent is composed of (A) a tetracalcium phosphate powder, (B) a fluoride, preferably calcium fluoride or strontium fluoride, (C) an aqueous solution of citric acid and/or tartaric acid and (D) an aqueous solution of an unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer, preferably an acrylic acid-itaconic acid copolymer. Since it hardens even under simple (not strict) water-proof conditions, the packing agent can be applied to teeth immediately after eruption (the teeth is difficult in the rubber dam sealing). Further, their dentinal maturation is promoted after eruption and low concentration of F is fed to the dentine for a long period of time, as Ca and P concentrations in the packed fissure is kept high. Thus, the agent has effect of not only the dentinal maturation, but also recalcification of initial tooth decay and the dentinal strengthening.

    • PURPOSE:To provide the subject adhesive for dental use, excellent in adhesiveness to the dentine, retaining high adhesivity for a long period of time even in water or saliva, also good in durability in the oral cavity. CONSTITUTION:The objective adhesive containing essentially (A) a radical- polymerizable monomer such as 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, (B) a maleic monoester compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H or CH3; m and n are each 1, 2 or 3), e.g. a compound of formula II-V, (C) an alpha-ketocarbonyl compound, pref. alpha-diketone, esp. diacetyl, benzil or camphorquinone, and (D) a reducing agent such as ethyl p-dimethylaminobenzoate. The preferable amounts of the above components are as follows: (1) 10-100 (esp. 20-90)wt.% of the component B based on the other polymerizable monomers, and (2) normally each 0.1-5wt.% of the components C and D based on the components A plus B. This adhesive is excellent in photocurability over a relatively low temperature range near normal temperature and in a wet state, and also excellent in the water- resistant adhesiveness of the cured product therefrom.
