摘要： PURPOSE:To readily obtain a halogenated substance in high yield by treating an aromatic compound with a benzyltri-lower alkyulammonium trihalide in the presence of a Lewis acid. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic compound is treated with a compound expressed by the formula (R1 to R3 are 1-6C alkyl) X is halogen) in the presence of a Lewis acid (e.g., zinc chloride or bromide) to afford a halogenated substance. AlCl3 and AlBr3 in the Lewis acid are not preferred, since both will decompose the compound expressed by the formula. Furthermore, in order to enhance reactivity, the treatment may be carried out in the coexistence of an alkaline (earth) metal carbonate or hydrogencarbonate, etc., for the purpose of trapping hydrogen halides formed as a by-product. A solvent capable of dissolving the compound expressed by the formula may be used and acetic acid, dichloromethane, etc., are cited. Even the aromatic compound having low reactivity can be readily halogenated according to the above-mentioned method.

CONSTITUTION:Aromatic amides, such as p-chlorobenzamide, in a solvent, such as water, are alkalified by preferably adding an alkali (earth) metal hydroxide, such as NaOH, to the solvent so as to readily advance reaction, then reacted in the presence of an oxidizing agent, such as a tetraalkylammonium polyhalide expressed by the formula (R1 is benzyl, phenyl or lower alkyl; R2 to R4 are lower alkyl; X is halogen), e.g. benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide, in an amount of 0.5-2mol based on 1mol aromatic amides at 5-100 deg.C for 0.3-15hr and subjected to the Hofmann degradation to afford the objective compounds, such as p-chloroaniline, useful as medicines, agricultural chemicals or raw materials for production thereof.

摘要： NEW MATERIAL:Benzyltrimethylammoniumchlorobromate(1-). USE:Useful as a synthetic raw material for brominated product of phenol and derivative thereof, aromatic amine or aromatic ether. Benzyltrimethylammonium chlorobromate(1-) is reacted with phenol and derivative thereof, aromatic amine or aromatic ether in a proper solvent as necessary in the presence of a base at ambient temperature to brominate the above-mentioned aromatic compound. PREPARATION:For example, benzyltrimethylammonium chloride is reacted with dichloromethane solution of equimolar bromine at ambient temperature to provide the titled compound.

摘要： PURPOSE:To readily prepare various esters corresponding to primary alcohols in high yields by oxidizing the primary alcohols with a readily handled tetraalkylammonium polyhalide as an oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION:A primary alcohol is reacted with a tetraalkylammonium polyhalide in a molar ratio of 1:0.5-2 at 0-100 deg.C in a solvent to prepare the corresponding ester. The tetraalkylammonium polyhalide as an oxidizing agent includes benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide. The method gives the corresponding hexyl hexanoate from n-hexyl alcohol. The employment of the readily handled oxidizing agent in a stoichiometric amount gives the corresponding ester in a high yield. The ester is useful as a medicine or agricultural chemical for various applications or as a raw material for the preparation thereof.

The method readily gives propyl propanoic acid ester, etc., from dipropyl ether, etc. The employment of disodium phosphate or sodium acetate as a buffering agent permits the further improvement of the yield.

The reaction is carried out in a solvent such as methylene chloride or chloroform and further a lower alcohol, especially methanol is preferably added to the solvent. The blending ratio of the halogenated alkyl solvent : the alcohol = 1.5-10:1, preferably 1:1-5:1. The reaction may be carried out in coexistence of a base to further raise reactivity. Calcium carbonate or sodium hydrogencarbonate may be used as the base and the amount of the brominating agent is properly an equivalent.
