    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument having indicator mechanism capable of assuring of correct alignment of a jaw of surgical instrument, that is an anvil, to the rest part of the surgical instrument.
      SOLUTION: A surgical instrument is loaded with an anvil position detector. The position detector includes a support member having an axis of the first longitudinal direction, a jaw which is mounted on the support member movably and has an axis of the second longitudinal direction, and a drive mechanism capable of moving to make the jaw move to the support member. Also, the position detector associates with the drive mechanism and the anvil, and so the position detector provides an assignment to an operator of the surgical instrument when the first axis of the longitudinal direction practically aligns to the second axis of the longitudinal direction.
