    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic rotary electric machine that improves holding strength of rotor windings against centrifugal force.SOLUTION: A stator 12 includes a plurality of stator windings 20u, 20v, and 20w wound around teeth 18. A rotor 14 includes: a rotor core 24; a plurality of rotor windings 28n and 28s wound around a plurality of main salient poles 26 of the rotor 14; and diodes, as magnetic property adjusting sections, that circumferentially vary magnetic properties developed in the main salient poles 26 by induced electromotive force generated in the rotor windings 28n and 28s. The rotor 14 has auxiliary salient poles 44 that project from respective circumferential side surfaces of the main salient poles 26. A rotor slot 46 is arranged between each adjacent pair of the main salient poles 26 in a circumferential direction of the rotor 14. Each circumferentially adjacent pair of the auxiliary salient poles 44 in each of the rotor slots 46 is joined to each other in each rotor slot 46. The rotor windings 28n and 28s are at least partially arranged on radially inner sides of the auxiliary salient poles 44.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively increase a torque in a wide rotational-number region by a structure capable of simplifying the winding structure of a dynamo-electric machine in a dynamo-electric machine driving system. SOLUTION: A stator includes a plurality of phases of stator windings 28u, 28v and 28w wound in a concentrated winding, and generates a rotating magnetic field of a frequency comprising a higher harmonic component by the flow of an AC current through the stator windings 28u, 28v and 28w. A rotor includes rotor windings arranged at a plurality of positions in the peripheral direction and diodes rectifying the currents flowing through each rotor winding. The magnetic characteristics of magnetic poles at a plurality of positions in the peripheral direction generated by the current flowing through each rotor winding are made to differ alternately. The dynamo-electric machine driving system includes a switch 42 superposing pulse currents to stator currents flowing through the stator windings 28u, 28v and 28w only when the inter-phase voltage of the dynamo-electric machine 10 or a value corresponding to the inter-phase voltage is less than a threshold value or equal to or lower than the threshold value and when a preset pulse-superposing request condition holds.       SOLUTION: Permanent magnets 18 of a rotor have extended magnet portions 38, which extend outside both end portions of a rotor core 16 with regard to the direction of axis of rotation of the rotor. The magnetic flux 57, generated in the extended magnet portions 38, acts in such a way as to suppress the magnetic flux 56 which tends to enter the rotor core 16 and to leak outside, flowing through proximity portions 16a of the permanent magnets 18. Thus, the magnetic flux which flows through the proximity portions 16a of the permanent magnets 18 in the direction of axis of rotation can be reduced, and effective magnetic flux for the torque of the rotor can be increased.

Rotor coils 28n, 28s, 30n, and 30s are formed by a plurality of windings wound around the rotor salient poles 32, and have contours that are molded and solidified. Each of the holding members 36 is T-shaped in cross-section, and has: a leg 50 that is engaged with a radially inner side of the rotor core 24; and beams 52a and 52b that extend from radially outer ends of the leg 50, as bases thereof, to both sides in a direction perpendicular to the leg 50. The contours of the rotor coils 28n, 28s, 30n, and 30s have non-contact portions out of contact with the holding members 36, and have contact with the holding members 36 on both sides of the non-contact portions.
