摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas which can efficiently exhibit purification properties of a noble metal catalyst and has a high purification function of the catalyst at a low temperature.SOLUTION: The catalyst for purifying exhaust gas comprises a substrate 1 forming a gas channel in which exhaust gas flows and a catalyst layer 10 formed on the substrate 1. The catalyst layer 10 is composed of a lower catalyst layer 2 formed on the surface of the substrate 1, a front stage upper catalyst layer 3 covering the surface of the lower catalyst layer 2 in the upstream side in the gas flow direction, and a rear stage upper catalyst layer 4 covering the surface of the lower catalyst layer 2 downstream of the front stage upper catalyst layer 3 in the gas flow direction. The lower catalyst layer 2 bears at least one of Pd and Pt. The front stage upper catalyst layer 3 bears Pd. The rear stage lower catalyst layer 4 bears Rh. The Pd bearing density in the front stage upper layer 3 is 4.5 to 12 mass%.

Consequently, the generation of a troublesome phenomenon such as interference stripes and double display can be prevented and the invasion of uncured sealing agent into the gap between the optical film and the reflecting plate immediately after its application can be suppressed.
