    • PURPOSE:To obviate the formation of diametral cambers on the outside circumferential surface of a fitting member, in the stage of compacting a powdery material for sintering to the fitting member, by providing recesses of a prescribed shape on both side surfaces in the axial direction of the fitting member, and inserting a shaft member into the hole of the fitting member then sintering both. CONSTITUTION:Recesses 8 of a shape hollowed by a depth d from the position nearer the center by a distance (t) from the outside circumferential surface are formed on both side surfaces 6 of a journal piece 4 which is a fitting member to be obtained when liquefied sintering powder is compacted by pressuring or preparatory sintering. A tubular cam shaft 1 is inserted and fitted into the hole 7 of the piece 4, and both are put in a sintering furnace and are subjected to regular sintering, whereby the joining by diffusion and shrinkage is effected. Since the surfaces 6 have the recesses 8, the rate of shrinkage is higher than in the central part in the axial direction of the piece 4 and since the tendency toward cambering of the outside circumferential surface of the piece 4 is negatated each other, an outside circumferential surface 5 parallel exactly with the axial direction can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To simplify the device and enhance the reliability and durability, by supporting the upper punch rotatably with respect to the upper ram. CONSTITUTION:The phases of upper punch 10 and die 1 are adjusted by means of set-screw. This plase adjustment is achieved only by rotating the set-screw. After filling a cavity 7 of die 1 with metal powder when an upper ram 18 of a powder forming press lowers, the upper punch 10 does not rotate up to the upper end face of the die 1, but goes down, so that fitting and meshing with the die 1 may be started on the upper end face of the die 1. When going down lower than the upper end face of the die 1, the upper punch base 11 and upper punch 10 descend while rotating, while the teeth 9 of the upper punch 10 are contacting and sliding on the tooth surface of the teeth 2 of the die 1, resisting the enforcing power of the rotating enforcing means, so that the metal powder in the cavity 7 is formed by compression. After completion of compression, the ram 18 is raised, and the upper punch 10 is drawn out of the die 1. Then, the lower ram is lowered together with the die 1, and the molding in the cavity 7 is pushed up by the lower punch 6, and the molding is taken out of the die 1.
