    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more practical variable speed electromagnetic clutch usable for a vehicular air conditioner. SOLUTION: The variable speed electromagnetic clutch is mounted on a front housing 5 of a scroll type compressor 3 and on a driving shaft 8. When a current flows in a coil 57 in a negative direction, a magnetic circuit is formed among part of a fixed core body 55 excluding a fixed magnet 59, a movable core 69 and a first armature 81 and the first armature 81 is magnetized to the fixed core body 55. When a current flows in the coil 57 in a positive direction, a magnetic circuit is formed among part of the movable core 69 excluding a movable magnet 71, a second armature 83 and the fixed core body 55 and the second armature 83 is magnetized to the movable core 69. Thus, the variable speed electromagnetic clutch performs power transmission between a pulley 79 and the driving shaft 8 at two types of variable speeds, and also performs power interruption.       SOLUTION: A piston 27 which is provided at the linear electric compressor 100 comprises: a piston rod 29; and first and second piston heads 31, 33 which are integrally provided at both ends of the piston rod 29. The piston rod 29 has a smaller diameter than those of the first and second piston heads 31, 33. A permanent magnets 35, 37 are provided at the first and second piston heads 31, 33. A center housing 7 has a spring seat 7b between the first and second piston heads 31, 33, and there are provided the first and second coils 49, 51 located around the piston rod 29 between the spring seat 7b and the first and second piston heads 31, 33. In addition, the refrigerant circuits 200, 300 are provided with the linear electric compressor 100.
