    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a premixed compression self-firing combustion engine capable of performing stable self-ignition combustion even if an intake air temperature changes.
      SOLUTION: In this controller, when the intake air temperature is higher than a predetermined normal temperature range, an ECU 25 controls a variable valve timing mechanism 24 so that the closing timing of an exhaust valve 9 is adjusted to a retard-angle side to reduce the amount of a hot internal EGR gas and avoid excessive premature ignition. During medium and high loading. the ECU 25 reduces the amount of the internal EGR gas by increasing the retard-angle amount for the closing timing of the exhaust valve 9 more than during the low loading. During the medium loading in the medium and high rotation ranges, the rotational speed of an electric motor 16 is increased to increase supercharging pressure by a supercharger 17. The electric motor 16 of the supercharger 17 and an EGR control valve 22 are so controlled that, in the high loading during the high rotation range, the more the supercharging pressure is increased, the more the intake air temperature detected by a temperature sensor 26 is increased, and the amount of the external EGR gas is increased.
