    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation test method of a material for an internal combustion engine capable of evaluating, with a simple facility, whether or not particles are easily generated on the surface of a material for an internal combustion engine such as an electrode of an ignition plug and an electrode material provided for the engine of an automobile.SOLUTION: The sample constituted of a nickel base material is immersed in a corrosion liquid (aqueous solution containing acid and sodium chloride). The sample immersed in the corrosion liquid is exposed to flames of engine oil, and further heated. A Ni concentration phase increased in Ni concentration by lacking an additive element in a surface layer region of the sample is formed by immersing the sample in a specific corrosion liquid. The component in the engine oil is put into an active state so as to be made to contact the sample by exposing the sample having the Ni concentration phase to the flames of an engine oil, and a low melting point phase is formed in the surface layer region of the sample. The sample having the low melting point phase is heated so as to melt the low melting point phase, and the sample is solidified again. Thereby, the particles and the like can be formed according to the material quality of the sample. The occurring tendency of the particles can be evaluated by a simple facility even without using a testing engine.
