    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for an organic EL display device, the color filter having proper color reproducibility and two of characteristics, that is, high lightness and a wide color display region, using an organic EL white light-emitting layer as a light source, and to provide an organic EL display device which uses the color filter. SOLUTION: The color filter used for an organic El display element includes a red-filter segment, a green-filter segment and a blue-filter segment formed by using pigments or color compositions containing at least pigments, wherein the green filter segment contains at least one kind of green pigment selected from among C.I.Pigment Green 7 and C.I.Pigment Green 36, and at least one kind of yellow pigment selected from C.I.Pigment Yellow 139, C.I.Pigment Yellow 150, and C.I.Pigment Yellow 185. The green-filter segment has a film thickness of not more than 3.0 μm and satisfies xG≤0.270 and yG≥0.650, relating to the chromaticity point (xG, yG) in the CIE color system, when the following organic EL element is used: the EL element, having spectral characteristics showing at least two maxima in a wavelength range of 400 nm to 700 nm, and having emission spectra including peak wavelengths λ 1 and λ 2 , where the emission intensity reaches a maximum, at least in a wavelength range from 430 nm to 485 nm and in a wavelength range of 580 nm to 620 nm, respectively, with the ratio (I 2 /I 1 ) ranging from 0.4 to 1.2 of the emission intensity I 2 at the wavelength λ 2 to the emission intensity I 1 at the wavelength λ 1 .
