    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing in high yield a phenyl ester by reaction between benzene, an organic carboxylic acid and molecular oxygen in the presence of a metal-carrying catalyst.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing the phenyl ester comprises carrying out a reaction between benzene, the organic carboxylic acid and molecular oxygen in the presence of the metal-carrying catalyst. Specifically, this method comprises the following process: Using a muti-tiered reactor where reactors each packed with the catalyst are arranged in series, the 1st-tier reactor is fed with the benzene and the organic carboxylic acid, which are then transferred into the succeeding reactors, and the molecular oxygen is dividedly fed into the respective reactors. Alternatively, this method comprises the following process: Using a reactor where the catalyst is packed in a plurality of reaction beds in the advancing direction of the benzene and the organic carboxylic acid, the 1st reaction bed is fed with the benzene and the organic carboxylic acid, which are then transferred into the succeeding reaction beds, and the molecular oxygen is dividedly fed into the respective reaction beds. Thus, the objective phenyl ester is produced in high yield, economically and safely.
