An extension mode of the multistage extension mast when inserting/taking out fuel assemblies and a reactor internal structure into/from a core part is set to move a plurality of stages simultaneously.

      SOLUTION: This reactor fuel replacement device comprises a traveling carriage 10a, traveling on a rail track provided above a nuclear reactor pressure vessel 14 and a traversing carriage 10b moving on the traveling carriage in a direction perpendicular to the track, a multi-stage extension mast 10c hung down from the traversing carriage 10b, and a fuel gripper 4 mounted on tip of the mast, for performing insertion and extraction of the fuel assembly 13, with respect to the core part of the pressure vessel. The extension mast is given an upper/lower two-part structure, comprising an upper mast part 21 and a lower mast part 21 that consists of a plurality of masts formed at least, in a telescopic manner. An upper mast telescoping mechanism 36 is provided to directly drive an inside second stage mast 21b in the upper mast 21 in the vertical directions for an outside first stage mast 21a.
