    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flexibly and appropriately change a polling start and a polling interval.
      SOLUTION: An information gathering system is provided with; observation stations 11-1 to 11-n which detect water level data of rivers and rainfall data and transmit the data responding to polling; and a central station 1 which obtains data from the observation stations 11-1 to 11-n by polling at predetermined time of day at predetermined intervals. The system has an acquisition means 35 which acquires information to be used as a base of determination of change of polling start from other than the observation stations 11-1 to 11-n at intervals shorter than normal polling intervals or continuously or at arbitrary timing, determines whether polling should be started or polling interval should be changed based on acquired information by a control means 36 and performs polling based on the determination result.
