    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Doherty amplifier, having an increased tolerance to an external disturbance with a restrained characteristic dispersion product-by-product.
      SOLUTION: A signal partially branching from the output of a main amplifier 2 is added to an input signal with an inverted phase, so as to input to a peaking amplifier 3, thereby making bias adjustment on the peaking amplifier 3 unnecessary. Namely, because a signal corresponding to the relation between the output of the main amplifier 2 and the input signal is input to the peaking amplifier 3, the power from the peaking amplifier 3 is supplied by the amount of power caused, by a reduced gain of the main amplifier 2 due to saturation. Accordingly, it then becomes possible to provide the Doherty amplifier having an improved rising characteristics of the drain current of the peaking amplifier 3, with the provision for increased linearity, reduced characteristic dispersion depending on a component, and also high tolerance to the external disturbance.

SOLUTION: The feedforward power amplifier comprises a main amplifier 2 which amplifies input signals; a distortion extracting circuit 31 which extracts only a distorted component contained in the output signals of the main amplifier 2; and a distortion canceling circuit 32 which removes the distorted component from the output signals of the main amplifier 2. A delay circuit 9 located on a lower side of the main amplifier 2 is formed of a plane circuit, an isolator 8 is arranged between the output terminal of the main amplifier 2 and the delay circuit 9, so that a standing wave is prevented from occurring on a transmission line, a power is not unnecessarily radiated, a component cost and a manufacturing cost are low, and thus the feedforward power amplifier excellent in maintainability can be realized.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small size and light weight power amplifier having low distortion and high efficiency.
      SOLUTION: The power amplifier 3 includes a synthesizer 20 for combining an I signal and a Q signal to generate a main signal, a directional coupler 1 for branching the output of the synthesizer 20 in two directions, a main amplifier 2 for amplifying a main signal passing the directional coupler 1, an error amplifier 3 for performing a distortion correction of the man signal and a signal deterioration correction, and a directional coupler 4 for combining the output signal of the main amplifier 2 and the output signal of the error amplifier 3. The amount of the distortion of the main amplifier 6 is detected by an inverse distortion generating circuit 7 and a phase regulating circuit 8, the amount of the signal deterioration of the main amplifier 2 is detected by a signal deterioration compensating circuit 9 and a phase regulating circuit 10. To synthesize these detected result and the output signal of the main amplifier 2, the signal distortion and the signal deterioration of the main signal generated by the main amplifier 2 can be compensated, and a linear operation of high efficiency can be performed.
