    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicone oil solution for carbon fiber, capable of providing high-quality carbon fiber at a low cost, and to provide a method for producing carbon fiber excellent in cost performance.
      SOLUTION: This silicone oil solution for carbon fiber is characterized by containing, as essential components, an amino-modified silicone and a polyoxyethylene-based compound at a 12-35 molar ratio (M) of the polyoxyethylen part (Mp) of the polyoxyethylene-based compound to the amino group (Ma) contained in the amino-modified silicone. The method for producing carbon fiber comprises applying the silicone oil solution to a water-swelled thread, heat-treating at 150-200°C to obtain a precursor fiber for the carbon fiber, treating the precursor fiber at 200-300°C in an oxidative atmosphere to impart flame resistance, precarbonizing the resultant at 300-800°C in an inert atmosphere and carbonizing the obtained at 800-2,000°C in an inert atmosphere.
