    • PURPOSE:To enable a seal member to make positive sealing action and to be manufactured at a low cost by bringing a synthetic resin made cylindrical seal member into slidable contact with the peripheral part of an axis and also bringing a lip type seal in slidable contact with the peripheral surface of the axis more on the sealing fluid side than the cylindrical seal member. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical seal member 8 made of synthetic resin is provided on the sliding contact face, between the axis of rotation 2 and a lip type seal 5, and brought into slidable contact with the peripheral surface 2a of the axis 2, and also the lip type seal 5 is brought into slidable contact with the peripheral surface 2a of the axis 2 more on the sealing fluid 4 side than the cylindrical seal member 8. With this constitution, double seal is obtained by the synthetic resin made cylindrical seal member 8 and the rubber made lip type seal 5, so that sealing action is made positive, and also the durability of the sliding contact face can be heightened by the synthetic resin made cylindrical seal member 8. A doubly sealed part can be thus obtained only with one sheet of lip type seal 5, which makes the structure simpler and the manufacturing cost lower than those of a device provided with plural lip type seals 5.

    • PURPOSE: To effectively utilize lubricating oil, by forming a tapered land which causes at least either a side plate or a rotor forms a wedge-shaped oil film layer in the direction of circumference in the region of a sliding spot thereof.
      CONSTITUTION: A rotor 2, secured to a rotary shaft 1, has an engaging groove in which a vane 3 is contained, and the rotor 2 and the vane 3 are surrounded with a cylinder casing 4 and side plates 5 closing the both ends thereof. A tapered land, which generates a wedge-shaped oil film layer in the direction of circumference of a sliding spot in at least a part of the region of a sliding spot, is formed on at least either the side plate or the rotor. For example, a number of tapered lands 10, circumferentially connected with each other, are formed on the rotor 2. The land is 5W10 micron in height, lubricating oil is drawn therein resulting from movement of a compressor to form the wedge-shaped oil film.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent any distortion in a case from occurring by forming a ring groove on a peripheral surface of the case, fitting a sealing member in this ring groove, also fitting this case in a hole of a housing with some play after making a required clearance therein, and having the sealing member pressed in the hole and then fitting the case in the hole. CONSTITUTION:A sealing member 11 consisting of an O-ring is fitted in a ring groove 10 formed on a peripheral surface of a case 2. If this case 2 is fitted in a hole 1a of a housing 1 with some play after making a clearance C therein, the sealing member 11 is pressed in the hole 1a, fitting the case 2 in the housing 1, and thereby such a possibility that a sealing fluid at the left might be leaked to the right via the clearance C is prevented from occurring. In addition, if a central part of the sealing member 11 and that of a ring groove 3a formed in a first lip 3 both are set up so as to cause them to be situated in a perpendicular orthogonal with an axis of a turning shaft 5, even if the case 2 is displaced in the radial direction by any whirling and deflection of the turning shaft 5, the rocking tilt is kept back so effectively and, what is more, any drop in a sealing effect is prevented from occurring.

    • PURPOSE:To improve a seal effect, by a method wherein an annular groove formed in succession in the peripheral direction of a rotary shaft is formed in the seal surface with a rotary shaft of a lip. CONSTITUTION:An annular groove 9 is formed in the seal surface with a rotary shaft 2 of a lip 6. Since the thickness of the annular groove 9 part of the lip 6 is decreased to a value lower than that of the other part, said part is apt to deform by press as a result of a pressure on the seal fluid side being exerted thereon. As a result, the potions, located at both parts of the annular groove 6, of the seal surface are forced into especially firm pressure contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft 2. Since the annular groove 9 is formed in succession in a circumferential direction, contact part also extends in succession in a circumferential direction. Besides, since two annular contact parts per one annular groove 9 are provided, a double seal action is produced. Thus, a double seal action causes production of an excellent seal effect both during rotation and during a stop compared with a conventional device.

    • PURPOSE:To provide an effective lip seal device, by a method wherein an annular groove formed in succession in the peripheral direction of a rotary shaft is formed in the seal surface with the rotary shaft of a slip, and a first seal surface located nearer to the sealed fluid side than the annular groove is further smoothly formed than a second seal surface on the opposite side. CONSTITUTION:A first seal surface 10a located nearer to the sealed fluid side than an annular groove 9 is further smoothly formed than a second seal surface 10b on the opposite side. Thus, in a state in which a lip 6 is incorporated in a rotary shaft 2 and before rotation of the rotary shaft 2, the first seal surface 10a being further smooth compared with the coarse second seal surface 10b is excellently adhered to the outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft 2 to effect an effective seal action. With the rotary shaft rotated, the coarse second seal surface 10b is further rapidly adapted itself to the surface of the rotary shaft 2 by dint of initial friction between the rotary shaft 2 and the second seal surface than the first seal surface 10a. Thereby, after the second seal surface 10b is adapted itself to the surface of the rotary shaft 2, during the stop of the rotary shaft 2, the second seal surface 10b is further firmly adhered to the rotary shaft 2 than the first seal surface 10a.

    • PURPOSE:To sufficiently seal sealed fluid leaking from a first lip seal positioned on the sealed fluid side, by means of a second seal, by setting the close contact force of the second seal against a shaft to be smaller than that of the first lip seal. CONSTITUTION:Sealed fluid is sealed by means of a first lip seal 3 and a seal member 16, and in particular, the inner peripheral surface of the first seal 3 is made into close contact with a rotary shaft 5 so that it is possible to sufficiently prevent leakage. Further, a slight amount of sealed fluid leaking through the first lip seal 3 and the seal member 16 is then sealed by a second lip seal 4 which is made into close contact with the rotary shaft 5 by a close contact force which is smaller than the close contact force of the first lip seal 3. At this time the sealed fluid has a low pressure, and therefore, it is possible to sufficiently and satisfactorily prevent leakage. Further, leakage through gaps among the second lip seal 4, a cylindrical spacer 9 and the casing 2 has also a low pressure, and may be inhibited sufficiently. Thus, it is possible to reduce the slide resistance, and therefore the sealing ability may be ensured sufficiently, thereby it is possible to enhance the durability of the second lip seal.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain good sealing effect during rotation and at stopping by forming the contact surface of either a seat ring or a driven ring with an inclined surface and setting the inclined surface to be outside higher at stopping of rotation and to be inside higher during rotation. CONSTITUTION:A mechanical seal is provided in a compressor unit to prevent leak of fluid to a joint portion of a rotary shaft 1 with an electromagnetic clutch. In other words, the rotary shaft 1 is inserted through a seat ring 9, with which a driven ring 10 rotatable along with the rotary shaft 1 is kept in sliding contact to prevent leak of liquid from the clearance between the seat ring 9 and the rotary shaft 1. In this case, the contact surface of either the driven ring 10 and the seat ring is formed in an inclined surface. The inclined surface is set to be outside higher so that the outer periphery of either ring 9, 10 may axially project greater than the inner periphery at stopping of rotation or in the ordinary temperature condition, and to be inside higher so that the inner periphery of either ring 9, 10 may axially project greater than the outer periphery due to thermal deformation during rotation.
