    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably control a knocking detecting gate term in response to the variation of a masking term to surely remove residual magnetic noise for knocking control based on the detected ion current by detecting an ion current through a constitution having a secondary side of an ignition coil in an ion current course. SOLUTION: An ion current output detected through an ion current detecting circuit 10 and a reverse amplification circuit 20 is masked by a masking circuit 30 till a fixed time elapses after the end of a discharge, and a noise produced after the end of discharge is thereby completely removed. BPF 41 extracts a knocking frequency component from the output of the masking circuit 30, and an integrating circuit 42 integrates the output of the BPF 41 during a gate term. CPU 43 learns the start time of a gate term according to the variation of the end time of the masking term so that the start time of the gate term may be delayed than the end time of the masking term. As a result, the influence of the noise caused by the discontinuity of a signal accompanying with mask-releasing can be removed.
