    • PURPOSE:To improve the extent of idling stability, by installing an atmospheric intake passage in a casing of a mechanical supercharger as interconnected to a ring space to be formed around a rotor support shaft of the supercharger, and installing a control valve to be opened at time of detection of current consumer operation, in this passage. CONSTITUTION:In case of a supercharger 20, consisting of a Roots pump or the like having a pair of rotors 22 installed in a suction passage 12 and driven by an engine, a ring space 36 surrounding a support shaft 26 is formed between an end face of the rotors 22 and a bearing 28 supporting this rotor support shaft 26 free of rotation to a casing 24. This ring space 36 is opened to the atmosphere by a port part 38 passing through the casing 24 and an atmospheric intake passage consisting of a pipe part 40 extending to the atmospheric intake port formed at the upstream side of a throttle valve in the suction passage 12. And, a control valve 42 is installed in the point midway in this atmospheric intake passage, and it is controlled by an electronic control unit 52 so as to be opened at the time of detection of operation of a current consumer 54 for an air conditioner and a light or the like.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a decrease in knock detection precision due to temperature variation in a combustion chamber by conducting the heat of cooling water which flows in a water jacket for cooling surrounding the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine to a housing effectively. CONSTITUTION:The housing 3 forming the outside of the piezoelectric knock sensor 1 is provided threadably to the cylinder block 2. A piezoelectric 4 is incorporated in this housing 3 and the end surface 5 at the side of the cylinder block 2 projects into the water jacket 6 surrounding the cylinder block 2. Further, fins 7 made of many projections are formed on the end surface 5 of the housing 3, and consequently the heat of the cooling water in the water jacket 6 which becomes stable after engine warming is conducted effectively to the housing 3, so the temperature of its inside and element 4 becomes stable almost at the temperature of the cooling water. Therefore, variation in the piezoelectric constant of the element 4 is small and knock detection temperature which is stable on any condition is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the cooling efficiency, by providing an intercooler at a portion of an outside communication hole formed through a wall of an engine room, and driving a fan for the intercooler in such a direction as to blow the air in the engine room to the outside when a vehicle speed is a predetermined high speed, while when the vehicle speed is a predetermined low speed, driving the fan in such a direction as to blow the outside air into the engine room. CONSTITUTION:An outside communication hole 36 is formed through a wall 34 of an engine room, and an intercooler 18 for cooling a charged air from a supercharger 22 is located at a position of the communication hole 36. The intercooler 18 is provided with a fan 40 to be driven by a motor 44. When a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor 54 is greater than a predetermined value, an air quantity to be naturally drafted from the communication hole 36 to the outside of the engine room is large, and therefore the fan 40 is operated by a motor rotative direction selecting device 64 to blow the inside air out of the engine room. When the vehicle speed is low and an engine room temperature 56 is low, the fan 40 is driven to be rotated in the same direction as above. On the other hand, when the vehicle speed is low and the engine room temperature is high, the motor rotative direction is reversed to blow the outside air into the engine room.
