The constant for determining the gain of the knocking signal supplied from the knock sensor, constant for determining the gain of the knocking judgement level, off- set value, etc. are memorized as constants. The instruction voltage supplied from outside is set to an arbitrary value by a division resistor 24, and converted to selection code in an A/D converter 20, and one of the constants in pairs is selected by the signal supplied from a decoder 22. Therefore, when similar engines are mounted onto plural kinds of cars, the mask pattern can be used in common.
