CONSTITUTION:A work W is carried by a loader and the like, and is temporarily put on a work temporary receiving rest, while a screw shaft 39 is rotated by means of the driving of a servo motor 42, and a ram member 28 having a nut member 40 proceeds in a working spindle 9, and a tail spindle of a tail stock is proceeded then, and the work W is supported by a center 29 as well as by the tail stock center in both ends. A chuck part C works as a gripper for the working spindle side end of the work W at the proceeding position of the ram member 28. A longitudinal direction end surface measurement device is proceeded at the same time, and the longitudinal position of the work W is measured thereby, and the servo motor 42 is driven by a controller based on the detection signal, and the positioning of the work W in a longitudinal direction is carried out by the moving forward/backward of the center 29 as well as the moving forward/backward of the tail stock center that follows the movement of the center 29.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate necessity for changing the preparation for different works and provide possibility of processing such works of different types by furnishing a rotary work holder with a drive key detainable with the detent part of the end of work, and supporting this rotary work holder between a drive holder and a tail-stock center in such a way as rotatable. CONSTITUTION:When the type of a work to be processed W is entered by a data input/output device, the ram 2 of a tail-stock body 1 advances while a rotary work driving unit 10 does also to allow the detent part K of the work W to run against a drive key 41 of a rotary work holder 40. When these ram 2 and unit 10 further advance, the drive key 41 is pressed by the work W to compress a compression spring 42, and the rotary work holder 40 is rotated under guidance of cooperative action of a pawl on a drive holder 20 and a spiral groove in its cylindrical part 40A, and thus the drive key 41 is detained with the above-mentioned detent part K. At the same time, the ram 2 reaches the advanced position in accordance with the work W, and then a servo motor 23 is operated to rotate the rotary work holder 40 through the mentioned drive holder 20 and a transmission. Thus grinding of the work is conducted.
