    • PURPOSE:To detect the use limit of the grinding wheel irrespective of the abrasion of a correcting jig by a method wherein the position of the grinding wheel at the time of generation of a speed change signal from a measuring device is detected to ascertain whether or not the detected position of the grinding wheel is remote from the original position thereof. CONSTITUTION:The measuring device 20 is provided on a table 12 of the grinder 10. When a work W is finished to a predetermind size, a speed change singal is generated from the measuring device 20 and a position detector LS detects whether or not a grindstone table 23 has returned to its original position. Further, a digital control device 40 generates pulses to drive circuits 41 and 42 for driving pulse motors 24 and 32 to thereby control the processing of the work W and the correction of the grindstone. When a grind command signal is applied on the digital control device 40 and the forward quick feed of the grinding wheel 22 is started, a signal is generated from a one shot circuit 55 and the moving amount l of the grinding wheel from its original position is detected by a counter 51. Then, the detected moving amount l of the grinding wheel is compared with a reference moving amount lr computed by an operator 50 and a critical detecting signal is generated from the comparator 52.

    • PURPOSE:To detect the use limit of the grinding wheel irrespective of the abrasion of a correcting jig by a method wherein the moving amount of the correcting jig from a reference position up to its advanced end is detected and the use limit of the grinding wheel is detected by the moving amount of the correcting jig and the total amount of abrasion thereof. CONSTITUTION:A support shaft 29 is rotatably supported on a head 28 in parallel relationship with the grinding surface of the grinding wheel 16 and a truing wheel 30 serving as the correcting jig is fixed to one end of the support shaft 29. Further, a recessed shaft 48 is inserted into a support member 47 for a slide base 32 which is integral with the head 28 and a block 51 is fixed to the shaft 48. In addition, one end of the block 51 is attached with a contact sensing bar 52 and an oscillation detector 53. When the contact sensing bar 52 comes into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the grinding wheel 16, a contact detection signal is generated from a discrimination circuit to a digital control device which generates an output data corresponding to the amount of abrasion of the truing wheel 30 and the operation of the total amount of the wheel 30 and the operation for detecting the use limit of the grinding wheel 16 are performed.
