摘要： PURPOSE:To elastically deform a pad part to be larger as much as a portion for a concave space as well as to improve the operability of a horn switch consisting of a membrane switch by folding an air bag so as to have the concave space at least in a part of the lower part of the pad part with the membrane switch. CONSTITUTION:A pad part 2 is made up into a solid form, and an air bag 5 is folded and stored in the internal space 20. In addition, each of meshes 28a, 28b, clamped of one end to a mounting member 39 at both sides of a thin wall part at the center, and membrane switches 29a, 29b are all installed in an inner layer part 27 of a top face 22 of the pad part 2 by means of insert molding. Likewise, the air bag 5 is folded finally so as to have a concave space 21 at the center part of the top face, fixing it with a tape 51. According to this method, the pad part 2 is made easily to be elastically deformed by this concave space 21. Therefore the horn switch consisting of the membrane switches 29a, 29b is made possible to make a span of contact time. In consequence, a driver is able to sound a horn as his intention, while an operating feeling of this horn switch is improvable.

CONSTITUTION:In a steering wheel 1, when an air bag 5, housed in the lower part of a pad 2, is actuated, an upper surface of the pad 2 is divided into two parts and spread-opened to the outer. Here each membrane switch 29a, 29b is respectively insert-molded in each two-divided part of the pag 2. Conductive securing members 61f, 63f are inserted into a through hole in an exposed part in a lower end side with a reinforcing core member 21 secured to a conductive supporting member 39 simultaneously with earth electrode terminals 61, 63 electrically connected to the supporting member 39. That is, a switch control is facilitated by arranging each membrane switch in the total surface of the pad 2. While connection or the like of earth and connectors is facilitated.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve strength, by arranging a stopper board having an integral male screw section onto an upper face at the circumference of a fixing hole made through a backup plate for holding an inflator which inflates a gas bag for protecting crewmen upon collision of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A backup plate 15 is formed of an aluminum plate into a box having an insertion hole 15a in the center of the bottom face, then a metal 2a at the circumference of the gas bag 2 and a holder 4 are secured with bolt 6 together with the flange section 3a of an inflator 3 by utilizing a plurality of small holes made at the circumference of the insertion hole 15a. Tapered fixing holes 15b are made at the opposite sides of the plate 15, and a male screw section 17 is secured to respective fixing holes 15b with the upper end thereof projecting from the upper face of the plate 15. Then a rectangular stopper board 20 is arranged on the upper face of respective circumference at the fixing hole 15b of the plate 15, and the upper end of the male screw section 17 is caulked to the boss section 20a of said stopper board 20 so as to secure the stopper board 20 to the male screw section 17 and the plate 15.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent damage of a terminal at the time of deburring by providing a coated layer covering an upper wall and a side wall having a membrane switch with a soft synthetic resin, covering a terminal to take out a signal and providing a covering member projected from the lower part of the aforementioned coated layer. CONSTITUTION:An installation member 39, membrane switches 29a, 29b are inserted into a pad 2, and a coated layer 27 of an upper wall 22 and a side wall 21 is formed of urethan form. On a connector terminal where lead wires 30a, 31a, 31b are taken out of the membrane switches 29a, 29b and connected, a connector part 37 is formed as a covering member to cover the terminal in such a way to project from a lower edge part 27a of the coated layer 27. The terminal is inserted into the connector part 37 and moulded. When the coated layer is moulded, there grows burr on the contact part of an upper mould and the connector part 37. At the time of cutting off this burr, damage of the terminal is prevented by this connector part 37.

Even when the pad 2 is light pressed, the membrane switch 29 is easily deformed and surely actuated by presence of the space 80.

CONSTITUTION:A backup plate 16 is formed into a box having a bottom wall 16A which is rectangular when viewed from above for holding a pad 1, a gas bag 2, an inflator, etc., and secured to a movable contact plate through bolts. The inflator 3 is arranged in a large diameter insertion hole 16a made in the center of the bottom wall 16A, and the flange section 3a thereof is secured through bolts together with the holder 4. Here, a section 16f bending further inward than a plane connecting between upper and lower ends is formed on front and rear side walls 16B, 16C of the backup plate 16 near to the gas bag 2. Consequently, outward expansion of the side walls is prevented thus preventing partial removal of the pad 1.
