      SOLUTION: A communication system includes adapters 1 to 5. The adapters 1 to 5 are provided with an acquiring means, a generating means, a transmitting means, a receiving means and a processing means as functions of a controller 1d. The acquiring means acquires a computer file. The generating means generates transfer information including added information that shows processing modes designated by the users of the sender side adapters 1 to 5 among a plurality of processing modes with respect to the computer file, and the computer file. The transmitting means transmits the transfer information to the receiving side adapters 1 to 5. The receiving means receives the transfer information. The processing means processes the computer file included in the transfer information received by the receiving means using the processing mode indicated by the added information included in the transfer information received by the receiving means.

The ISDN sends the call setting message to the called facsimile equipment and sends the call setting accept message to the caller facsimile equipment in response to the call setting message. Upon the receipt of the call setting message, the called facsimile equipment replies the message and sends the call setting accept message to the ISDN.

When it is not completed normally, operation by automatic receiving is terminated, and when completed normally, the CPU applies a starting signal to an alarm generating section 9, and reports toa user that received originals are accumulated. Thereafter, when an alarm stop switching section 10 is operated, the CPU 4 stops the alarm of the alarm generating section 9.

A called party dial number extraction determination control part 62 extracts the dial number of the called party of the abbreviated dial number and the use starting date and time which are stored in an abbreviated dial number storage part 63 and are inputted in the input 2. A control part 6 compares this use starting date and time with the present date and time measured by a timer part 3 and extracts the dial of number of the called party whose starting date and time have passed and which is the nearest to the present date and time. As a result, an originating call is performed by using an abbreviation operation and the contents of the abbreviated dial number can be automatically changed at a designated date and time.
