    • PURPOSE:To improve moldability of curved surface of a shadow mask and prevent deformation thereof by specifying the crystal grain size of the shadow mask provided with many pinholes and mainly consisting of the Fe-Ni system alloy for both internal side and surface. CONSTITUTION:In a shadow mask having many pinholes to be used for a color picture tube, for example, the 36Ni invar steel alloy mainly consisting of Fe-Ni alloy, is used in order to set the crystal grain size specified by JIS to 7.0 or less for both inside and surface of the shadow mask. Thereby, moldability of curved surface of the shadow mask mainly consisting of Fe-Ni alloy can be improved assuring high precision and high quality surface grade being prevented from deformation and a color picture tube without deterioration of color purity can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an electron gun having good convergence characteristic even under ordinary process control by providing a process for gradually cooling permalloy after the heat treatment under the dry hydrogen ambient of 700 deg.C to 800 deg.C and another process for gradually cooling shielded magnetic pole assembly after heat treatment under the dry hydrogen ambient of 800 deg.C to 900 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:Permeability changes largely by welding. Moreover, those heat treated at a higher temperature receives more influence of welding condition. Therefore, adequate heat treatment temperature of raw material, 45Ni-Fe permalloy is selected to 700 deg.C-800 deg.C. Next, as the heat treatment of the shielded magnetic pole assembly 13 after the welding, the heat treatment for removing strain due to the welding is necessary in order to stabilize magnetic permeability and a temperature must not be lower than the heat treatment temperature for individual magnetic shunt and/or magnetic enhancer and should be selected preferrably to 800-900 deg.C.

    • PURPOSE:To form a photosensitive material film free from influence of surface roughness of a metallic material and change in viscosity of the photosensitive material and uniform with respect to the surface of the metallic material by a method wherein while the metallic film is continuously moved, the photosensitive material is sprayed from a spray nozzle toward the surface of the metallic material so that the photosensitive material films of specific thickness are formed on the surfaces of the metallic material. CONSTITUTION:A metallic material 1 which has been subjected to degrease cleaning is moved upward while surfactant is sprayed from a pair of first spray nozzles 22 toward both faces of the metallic material to be applied. Then the metallic material is moved upward while a photosensitive material is sprayed from a pair of second spray nozzles 23 toward both faces of the metallic material 1 to be applied so that photosensitive material films of specific thickness are formed on both faces of the metallic film 1. The metallic material 1 formed with the photosensitive material films is sequentially subjected to shadow mask pattern baking by an exposure device, development and etching to form a shadow mask.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the color purity due to the thermal expansion of a shadow mask by constructing the shadow mask with a material composed mainly of Fe-Ni alloy and plating a Ni-P family alloy on the surface after annealing at a high temperature and press forming. CONSTITUTION:A color picture tube is constructed by providing the fluorescent screen 14, the electron gun 16, the shadow mask 15 and so on in an envelope consisting of the panel 11, the funnel 12 and the neck 13. The shadow mask 15 is made of a material composed mainly of Fe-Ni family alloy such as invar or the like, and it is formed to a specified curved surface by press forming after annealing in vacuum at a high temperature. Then the surface is plated with a Ni-P family alloy by electroless plating and so on, and the blackening process is applied to the surface to construct the shadow mask. Thus the mechanical strength of the shadow mask 15 is improved while keeping the low thermal expansion characteristics. thereby the deterioration of the color purity due to the heating and the vibration can be prevented effectively.

CONSTITUTION:On the occasion of annealing a thin metal plate provided with many pinholes mainly consisting of Fe-Ni alloy, crystal grains grow as the annealing temperature increases but crystal grains in the surface little grow while crystal grains in the sectional area grow remarkably. Therefore, annealing is carried out under the vacuum condition with such pressure 7 as 10 Torr or less owing to exhaustion at a temperature of 1,000 deg.C or more. Thereby, strength at the yielding point can be lowered and high precision shadow mask without any deformation can be obtained.
