Electrolyte also acting as positive active material mainly comprising oxyhalide is accommodated in the can 1. A part or whole surface of exposed surface, except for inner surface covered with the negative electrode 2, of the can 1 is covered with a passive film or insulating film 15. For example, exposed inner surface such as the upper part and bottom of the can 1 is covered with polypropylene film 15.

    • PURPOSE:To remove non-reacting Lewis acid and suppress voltage drop in an initial discharge stage to obtain a nonaqueous solvent battery having good initial discharge performance by adding specified times or more of theoretical reaction equivalent of Lewis base to Lewis acid. CONSTITUTION:When electrolyte for nonaqueous solvent battery is prepared by dissolving Lewis acid and Lewis base in oxyhalide of sulfur and phosphorus, Lewis base is added 1.2 times or more of theoretical reaction equivalent to Lewis acid. For example, AlF3, AlCl3, AlBr3, SbCl5, PCl3, BF3, BCl3, and BBr3 are used as Lewis acid, and LiF, LiCl, LiBr, NaF, NaCl, KF, KCl, and KB are as Lewis base. Thionyl chloride, sulfuryl chloride is used as oxyhalide of sulfur, and phosphoryl chloride is as oxyhalide of phosphorus which are used as positive active material as well as electrolyte.

Said separator 6 has excellent thermal stability, liquid holdability and liquid absorbability, high workability and enable of high density resulting in high rate discharge of nonaqueous solvent battery.

    • PURPOSE:To surely prevent explosion caused by incorrect use such as short in a nonaqueous solvent battery by forming a lead wire using to connect a negative electrode and positive electrode which are accommodated in a can to each terminal, with a shape memorizing alloy. CONSTITUTION:In a spiral lithium-thionayl chloride battery, a belt-shaped negative electrode 4 of an electrode group 2 is connected to a can 1 by a negative lead wire 8 such as a nickel peace. A positive lead wire 15 comprising a shape memorizing alloy such as Ni-Ti familh alloy is connected and fixed to a belt- shaped positive electrode 3, and also press-connected to a lead peace 14 of a positive terminal 11. In this battery, when heat is generated inside the battery by incorrect use such as short, the positive lead 15 returns to a shape memorized at high temperature, thereby connection is cut and circuit is opened. Therefore, heat generation is discontinued. When the negative lead wire 8 or both lead wires 8 and 15 are made with shape memorizing alloy, the same effect is also obtained.

The substance mainly composed of carbon black having chain structure, in which a graphite crystal thin film is formed around particles, is used as the porous carbon substance 7 in said nonaqueous solvent battery. A blending ratio of said carbon black and acetylene black is desirable 20-80wt% of carbon black and 80-20wt% of acetylene black.

Besides, after an electrolyte 13 is injected from an injection section for the electrolyte made of the pipe-shaped protrusion of the metal top 7, a needle body 14 made of metal is inserted and is welded with the tip of the injection section 9 by laser welding and such and is then sealed with good sealing. As a result, the electrolyte 13 whose principal component is thionyl chloride with harmfulness, high corrosion, and volatility can accurately be prevented from being leaked from the injection section 9 in gas status.
