    • PURPOSE:To permit the manufacture of a nonaqueous solvent battery having structure formed through liquid-tightly sealing the opening of an electrolyte filler pipe made of metal also serving as the other polar terminal, by using as a plug body a member in shape having its flange portion abutting on the upper end surface of a metallic pipe at the top of the plug body and also its swelled part in close contact with the inner circumferential surface of the metallic pipe. CONSTITUTION:A covering body 8 made of metal having a pipe 10 made of metal serving also as the other polar terminal liquid-tightly fixed previously in a hole near the center of the covering body via an insulating material such that one end side of the pipe 10 may be projected, is engaged with the upper opening of a metallic canister body 1 for sealing the opening by means of welding. After electrolyte 13 is received via the pipe 10 made of metal into the metallic canister body 1, a plug body 16 made of metal having its flange portion 14 at the top and also its swelled part 15 on the lower part side from the top is press-fitted into the pipe 10, and also the upper end surface of the pipe 10 made of metal is welded to the flange portion 14 of the plug body 16 abutting on the upper end surface. This makes it possible to manufacture a nonaqueous solvent battery having an excellently sealed structure which is formed to avoid any poor seal of the opening of the pipe made of metal so as to cause no leak of the electrolyte in use.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to manufacture a nonaqueous solvent battery being of structure formed through a process of liquid-tightly sealing the opening of an electrolyte filler pipe made of metal serving also as the other polar terminal, by abutting the flange portion at the top of a plug body onto the upper end plane of a pipe, caulking the part of the pipe protruded from a covering body to stick the inner circumferential plane of the pipe fast to the outer circumferential plane of the plug body and subsequently welding the flange portion to the pipe for sealingly closing the opening. CONSTITUTION:A metallic covering body 8 having a metallic pipe 10 also serving as the other polar terminal liquid-tightly fixed beforehand in a hole near the center of the covering body via an insulating material such that one end side of the pipe 10 may be protruded, is engaged with the upper opening of a metallic canister body 1, the opening is welded to be closed and electrolyte 13 is stored through the metallic pipe 10 into the canister body 1. Thereafter, a flange portion 14 is abutted onto the upper end plane of the pipe 10, the part of the pipe 10 protruded from the covering body 8 is then caulked to form an annular constricted portion 16 directed to an inside plug body 15 so as to stick the inner circumferential plane of the pipe 10 fast to the outer circumferential plane of the plug body 15, and the upper end plane of the pipe 10 is further welded to the flange portion 14 of the plug body 15 abutting on the upper end plane. This makes it possible to manufacture a nonaqueous solvent battery being of an excellently sealed structure which is formed to avoid any poor seal in sealingly closing the opening of the metallic pipe in order to prevent the electrolyte in use from its leaking.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent defective sealing in the laser welding or the like of a container of a battery using an electrolyte containing thionyl chloride by performing welding of the container while cooling the metal-made container by spraying inactive gas. CONSTITUTION:A metal top 11, in which a positive pole terminal 9 made of stainless steel is inserted in advance through a glass seal material 10 while being electrically insulated into the central hole, is arranged above an armored can 1 while connecting the positive pole terminal 9 of the metal top 11 with a collector body 6 of the positive pole collector 3 in the armored can 1 through a lead wire 12. Next, after fitting the metal top 11 to the upper opening part of the armored can 1, the outer periphery of the metal top 11 and the connecting part of the armored can 1 are welded for being sealded by the laser light 13 radiated from the horizontal direction to the rotary center in the argon atmosphere at 20 deg.C while rotating the armored can 1 on the axis of the can center. Thereby, the low temperature argon gas 14 is sprayed on the lower part by 5mm. from the upper part of the armored can 1 through a nozzle for cooling.
