    • PURPOSE:To perform the accurate diagnosis of corrosion, by a method wherein high frequency and low frequency AC currents are applied between a reinforcing bar and an electrode for diagnosing the corrosion of concrete and the real part values of respective AC impedances are calculated. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of high and low frequency AC currents are respectively independently applied between an electrode 6 for dianosing the corrosion of concrete and a reinforcing bar 2 by an AC current applying apparatus 5. The voltage response between the reinforcing bar 2 and the electrode 6 at this time is monitored by an AC potentiometer 11 and converted to AC impedance from the phase shift of an input signal and an output signal and the ratio of the amplitudes of both signals by a frequency response analyzer 12. Then, the real part of the AC impedance is used as the factor of corrosion diagnosis. Further, the real part value when the high frequency current is applied corresponds to the ohm resistance between the electrode 6 and the reinforcing bar 2, and, further, the real part value when the low frequency current is applied corresponds to the sum of the ohm resistance between the electrode 6 and the reinforcing bar 2 and the resistance relation to the corrosion speed of the interface of concrete 1 and the reinforcing bar 2. Therefore, the real part value at the time of high frequency is subtracted from the real port value at the time of low frequency and, when the value obtained is large, corrosion-free condition is judged.

    • PURPOSE:To measure the corrosion potential, the specific resistivity of soil, the natural corrosion speed, the pipe potential to ground and the grounding resistance simultaneously by connecting suitable instruments to a probe, which has a specimen electrode and a corresponding electrode used also as a reference electrode, a copper-copper sulfate reference electrode and a pipe terminal. CONSTITUTION:Pipe terminal drawing-out lead wires (a), (b) are connected to an underground piping A and a probe 2, which is composed of a specimen electrode 3 and a corresponding electrode 4 used also as a reference electrode and an insulator 3' provided between those two electrodes, is driven into a measured soil. A copper-copper sulphate reference electrode 6 is grounded near the probe 2. The automatic switching equipment 8 switches the respective measurement systems for the corrosion potential, the specific resistivity of the soil, the natural corrosion speed, the pipe potential to ground and the grounding resistance from one system to the other. The corrosion potential is measured by the potential difference between the specimen electrode 3 and the copper-copper sulfate reference electrode 6. The specific resistivity of the soil and the natural corrosion speed are measured by applying a constant current pulse, composed of the superposed high frequency and low frequency currents, between the specimen electrode 3 and the corresponding electrode 4 used also as the reference electrode. The pipe potential to ground and the grounding resistance are measured by utilizing the pipe terminal drawing-out lead wires (a), (b).

    • PURPOSE:To measure the depth of corrosion into a cast iron pipe in a non- destructive manner, by paring a table against which a detection output as obtained from an LC oscillation circuit is checked when a coil of the oscillation circuit used as sensor is brought into contact with the cast iron pipe. CONSTITUTION:An oscillation circuit 10 is determined by a coil 10a used as sensor, other resistances and a capacitor 10b and oscillates a fixed oscillation frequency. When this sensor is put on a sound part and a part to be inspected to produce an oscillation output, a detection circuit 20 detects and smoothes changes in the amplitude of the oscillation circuit 10 as DC voltage and an A/D converter 30 converts an output of the detection circuit 20 into digital from analog. A CPU40 judges the material of the case iron pipe from an output of the detection circuit for the sound part at the initialization according to a flowchart and during the measurement,it computes the depth of graphatic corrosion utilizing a material-wise detection output table stored in an internal memory and the results are displayed 50. This enables the measurement of the depth of corrosion into a cast iron pipe non-destructively in a short time.

    • PURPOSE: To measure a joint resistance of a pipe by means of non-cutting, by deriving the joint resistance from a current value flowing by applying an AC current to an exposed pipe and a buried pipe insulated by an insulating joint, and a voltage value applied between the upstream side and the downstream side of the insulating joint.
      CONSTITUTION: An AC signal is applied to a buried pipe 1 side and an exposed pipe 2 side into which an insulating joint 3 has been inserted, and only a current flowing through the joint 3 is measured by a clamp type current sensor 7 for converting an alternating field of the periphery of the joint 3 to an induced voltage, and an AC current measuring circuit 8. Also, at the same time, an AC voltage is applied to an exposed pipe side electric conductive terminal 4 and a buried pipe side electric conductive terminal 5 for holding an electric connection in the upstream side and the downstream side, respectively, of the joint 3 and measured by an AC voltmeter 10. Subsequently, a resistance value is measured by deriving the quotient obtained by dividing a joint up- and down-stream voltage value 14 by a joint passing current value 13, by an arithmetic circuit 11 and an indicator 12. In this way, a resistance of the joint installed in the pipe can be measured directly, easily and exactly in a state the pipe remains installed.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a method of preventing corrosion by accurately detecting the condition of corrosion of buried pipes, by making a buried pipe-earth potential measurement using the current interrupter method and at the same by making a measurement of a current density flowing from or into the buried pipe.
      CONSTITUTION: When probe 10 and buried pipe 1 are connected by means of lead line 11, current i consisting of anti-corrosion current 6 and stray current 8 flows into probe 10. When probe 10 and buried pipe 1 is disconnected by means of current interrupter 12, current i flowing into probe 10 can be cut completely. For this reason, it is possible to measure the true probe-to-earth potential, excluding iR, by the current interrupter method. Also, when the current flowing between probe 10 and buried pipe 1 is measured by ammeter 13, it is possible to obtain the current density flowing from or into probe 10.
