    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-treated steel material which is obtained by forming a protective rust layer, that exhibits a protective action against atmospheric corrosion in a high chloride environment and is composed of a dense oxide, on the surface of a steel material in early stages and which has high salt resistance by a combined effect with a base material having high corrosion resistance.
      SOLUTION: The steel material has a composition containing, by mass, 0.001-0.15% C, ≤2.5% Si, >0.5% and ≤2.5% Mn, 3+ ion in terms of Al and 1-40 mass% at least one anionic compound (where, compounds of a fluorine ion, a phosphate ion and a hydroxyl ion are excluded), the formation constant K

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal coated steel pipe, which method can comparatively easily coat and fix a thin coating metallic sheet on a steel pipe.
      SOLUTION: The coating metallic sheet 3 having a steel band is preliminarily manufactured by attaching the first steel band 5 having a thickness larger than that of a coating metallic sheet 4 to the end portion of the coating metallic sheet 4. The coating metallic sheet 3 having the steel band is coated on the steel pipe 2 by winding it around the steel pipe 2 in such a manner that the first steel band 5 is arranged in the circumferential direction of the steel pipe 2, and then the end portion of the first steel band 5 is welded on the steel pipe 2. Because the portion to be welded to the steel pipe 2 is the end portion of the steel band 5 and its thickness is larger than that of the coating metallic sheet 4, the burn-through in welding can be prevented, and the coating metallic sheet 4 can be comparatively easily wound and fixed on the steel pipe 2.
