    • PURPOSE: To perform electroplating with good accuracy while decreasing the oscillation and curve of a steel sheet by disposing magnet devices incorporated in a masking device on the outside on both sides in the transverse direction of a steel strip moving continuously in a plating cell and maintaining the specified distance from the steel strip.
      CONSTITUTION: A steel strip 1 subjected to a pretreatment is passed continuously between the electrodes 3 in a plating cell 6, via a current conducting roll 2, and while the advancing direction is vertically changed by a synchronizing roll 5, the steel strip is subjected to electroplating. Masking devices 4 for preventing spreading of plating to the other side are disposed in the edge parts of the strip 1. Magnet devices 7 are incorporated into the devices 4 to maintain the spacing (g) from the plate 1 as a prescribed value thereby providing tension on the steel strip and preventing the oscillation of the strip 1. The camber δ in the transverse direction of the strip 1, and the inter-pole distance Δ/2 between the strip 1 and the electrodes 3 are thus considerably reduced and the more uniform plating is made possible. The voltage is effectively reduced and the stable electroplating is accomplished.

The Al melt-sprayed film which is hardly strippable is converted to the above-described Al compd. which is easily strippable, then said compd. can be removed by, for example, washing. However, the aq. NaOH soln. when coated in this case spreads to the outside of the specified range. Thereupon, the aq. NaOH soln. incorporated with 0.5W3.0wt% α-starch to have viscosity is coated thereon. Such aq. soln. flows after coating and the coated range expands slightly but the flowing range is uniform and can be predicted and limited with respect to a specified coated amt., because the liquid surface dries to hardness and the liquid is internally agitated by foaming, by which the reaction with the Al is effectively accelerated.

    • PURPOSE: To inhibit the generation of hydrogen chloride and to efficiently recover metallic zinc by adding an acidic salt to a metallic halide as a principal component, adding the resulting flux to top dross, and agitating them.
      CONSTITUTION: Top dross 2 rising to the surface of a plating bath 1 is gathered and enclosed by a partition frame 3, or it is scooped up, put in a crucible 4, and melted by heating with a heater 5. An acidic salt such as NaHCO
      3 is added to a metallic halide such as ZnCl
      2 , and the resulting flux is charged into the top dross 2 and agitated. By this operation the acidic salt is converted into a basic substance by thermal decomposition, and the substance causes a neutralization reaction together with generated hydrogen chloride. By this reaction the generation of hydrogen chloride is inhibited. After the agitation zinc oxide in the dross is separated from metallic zinc and floats as ash, so by removing the ash, metallic zinc can be recovered.
