    • PURPOSE:To produce easily, safely and surely a composite metallic cast ingot having high quality by coating preliminarily an oxidation preventive agent which is evaporated by the heat of a molten metal on the surface of a cladding material, covering the coated surface thereof with a cover of a material to be expanded by the molten metal and casting the molten metal into a casting mold. CONSTITUTION:An oxidation preventive agent 2 of NH4BF4, etc. which is evaporated by the heat of a molten metal is coated on the surface of a cladding material 1 and the coated surface is covered via a small space with a cover 3 which consistgs of a mild steel plate or the like to be expended when the plate contacts with the molten metal and is provided with a small hole 4 communicating with the outdoor air in the upper part. Such cladding material is set in a casting mold 5. The molten metal is then charged through the charging hole 7 of a base plate 6. As the molten metal surface rises, the molten metal erodes the cover 3 and enters the inside thereof to evaporate the material 2, thereby forming a reducing atmosphere and blowing away scum 9. If the molten metal is cast at the speed at which the air pressure in the cover 3 is maintained higher by 0.002-1.0atm than the outdoor air pressure, the composite metallic cast ingot having a good adhesive state without any inclusion defect at the clad boundary is surely obtd.

    • PURPOSE: To improve efficiency and safety and to enable the removal of an Al melt-sprayed film at a low cost by performing said removal by a chemical treatment in place of mechanical grinding.
      CONSTITUTION: An aq. NaOH soln. is coated on an Al melt-sprayed steel plate and is brought into reaction with Al to form sodium aluminate in the case of removing only the Al melt sprayed film in the specified range near the weld line of said steel plate. The Al melt-sprayed film which is hardly strippable is converted to the above-described Al compd. which is easily strippable, then said compd. can be removed by, for example, washing. However, the aq. NaOH soln. when coated in this case spreads to the outside of the specified range. Thereupon, the aq. NaOH soln. incorporated with 0.5W3.0wt% α-starch to have viscosity is coated thereon. Such aq. soln. flows after coating and the coated range expands slightly but the flowing range is uniform and can be predicted and limited with respect to a specified coated amt., because the liquid surface dries to hardness and the liquid is internally agitated by foaming, by which the reaction with the Al is effectively accelerated.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate occurrence of defects due to impurities in the boundary and defective adhesion in inserting core in a mold with charged molten metal by charging the molten metal at a specified surface rising speed after forming a borofluoride layer on the surface of the core. CONSTITUTION:After removing the oxide film from the surface of a core 1, a coating layer containing borofluorides such as NH4BF4, KBF4 is formed to a thickness of 50-1,500mum. The core 1 is placed in a mold 4, and molten steel is charged into the mold from a sprue at a surface rising speed of 200- 1,000mm./min. Consequently, the coating layer comes into contact with the molten steel 10, and the borofluoride is thermally decomposed to produce BF3 gas. This gas excludes scum on the surface of the molten metal from near the surface of the core 1, and prevents the scum dragged in the interface between the core 1 and molten steel 10. Inside of the mold 4 is filled with nonoxidizing BF3 gas, and occurrence of defects due to impurities at the boundary caused by presence of oxide is restrained. When the surface rising speed is not within aforementioned range, the object cannot be attained due to previous decomposition of the borofluoride and insufficient vaporization of a part of the coating layer.
