    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance managing method for a fusion splicing connecting apparatus and a fusion splicing connector which can easily maintain the fusion splicing connector and manage the maintenance. SOLUTION: The fusion splicing connecting apparatus 1 has the fusion splicing connector 2 for connecting optical fibers to each other by fusion splicing and a data managing terminal 4 which is connected to the fusion splicing connector 2. The fusion splicing connector 2 has an equipment main body 9, a control processing part 10, and a memory part 13. The control processing part 10 self- diagnoses the optical fiber connecting function of the fusion splicing connector 2 as to a plurality of items according to a predetermined self-diagnostic program and stores detailed data on the self-diagnostic result in the memory part 13.
