    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for calculating a global movement vector (GMV) with a high degree of confidence.SOLUTION: Local movement vectors (LMV) corresponding to blocks, and block weights serving as degree of confidence indices of the LMV of each of the blocks are calculated, and a global movement vector (GMV) is calculated according to the block weights. The degree of confidence for the local movement vectors (LMV) corresponding to blocks is calculated for a block of interest and each adjacent block adjacent to the block of interest, and the degree of similarity for the local movement vectors (LMV) of the block of interest and the adjacent block is calculated. Then, block weights are calculated through a calculation process performed by applying the degree of confidence and the degree of similarity. Through this feature, it is possible to efficiently calculate a global movement vector (GMV) with a high degree of confidence.
