      SOLUTION: When a minidisk is loaded in an MD data drive device 76, its user TOC is read and a format of the minidisk is specified from identification data recorded thereon. A program corresponding to the format is then read out of a memory 75 and loaded into a memory 66 of a DSP 65. The DSP 65 compresses an inputted audio signal according to the program stored in the memory 66, supplies the signal to the MD data drive device 76, records the signal on the loaded minidisk, expands a regenerative signal outputted from the MD data drive device 76, and outputs the signal to a speaker 45. Even when the format of the disk loaded in the MD data drive device 76 is different, the program corresponding thereto is loaded into the memory 66 as needed, so that it is not necessary to prepare DSPs 66 as many as the number corresponding to the format but the one DSP 65 is sufficient.
