    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter-receiver and a transmission/reception method which can support signals in a plurality of formats by selecting a signal path.SOLUTION: A transmitter-receiver 200 comprises an HDMI reception unit 202, a video processor 203, a selector 205 and a micro-computer 206. As a repeater, the transmitter-receiver 200 is connected with a transmitter 100 as a source and a receiver 300 as a sink. The micro-computer 206 determines a format of an image signal from the transmitter 100. Then, if the format of the image signal is supported by the video processor 203, the micro-computer 206 selects a signal path passing through the video processor 203, and if the format of the image signal is not supported by the video processor 203, the micro-computer 206 selects a signal path not passing through the video processor 203.
